Thank you for your interest in our Y!GENERAL FUNCTIONUnder the direction of the Vice President of Programs, the Director of Teen Programs will be responsible for all facets of teen programing. The Director of Teen Programs may directly supervise the Teen Coordinator and activity leaders. The position will manage implementation, outcomes, and reporting for grant funded teen programs. The position will support the administration of the Teen Department, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Community and Association goals, objectives and policies.The Director of Teen Programs must understand their role in helping build relationships in the community to create a small community atmosphere among teens in our centers.KNOW HOWThis position requires a BA/BS degree in child development, recreation, elementary education or related field or its equivalent in related experience, and must have a minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in YMCA or similar agency. Applicant must have basic programming skills with special emphasis on teens, youth and family activities and volunteer recruitment. The ability to relate to all age groups is essential. Experience with grant management, volunteers, fiscal management, and program development is also important. The need exists to be current with community trends.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIESDesignated as a First Responder in the event of an emergency.Administers grant funded programming ensuring outcomes, preparing and submitting grant reports, documentation of expenses, and invoicing.Develops, administers and controls the designated budgets, including meeting income targets and expense control, in consultation with Vice President of Programs.Evaluates teen programs and recommends changes based on compatibility with the Community, Center, and Association goals. Is responsible for the development of new teen program thrusts.Assists the Financial Development Department in the identification and writing for grant funding and Annual Campaign funding to support the sustainability of teen programming.Selects, trains and supervises paid and volunteer department staff.Interprets Association goals, objectives and policies to the community and constituency.Prepares reports as required including required grant funding reporting to designated entities.Oversees and helps create free and fee-based teen programming, which will require working evenings and weekends.Guides assigned center committees in formulating policies and programs consistent with Center and Association goals.Shares responsibilities for Center supervision, public relations, planning and promotions as agreed.Evaluates performance, at least on an annual basis, of department personnel.Supervises and is accountable for care and upkeep of department equipment and facilities.Shares responsibility for providing income through membership fees and special subsidies.Assists in the annual Sustaining Membership enrollment campaign.Directs and organizes department program activities compatible with Center & Association goals.Provides direct leadership to specific programs as agreed upon with the Center Executive Director.Involved with other community groups in identifying and responding to community needs and issues.Serves as a liaison to school districts and community partners in the service area, building relationships with middle and high school teens to bring awareness to YMCA Teen Programs.Attends community events to promote YMCA Teen Programming.Assists with any other projects or activities as may be assigned.It is the policy of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to provide equal employment opportunity to employees and candidates for employment.
