The Workforce Development Director, under the supervision of the Director of Family and Community Engagement, will oversee the Employment Services component of Project Connect, the YMCA Adult Education and Workforce Development Program. This crucial role involves managing Employment Services for adults in 2GEN family services through the YMCA's Family Institute and for targeted residents in key Indianapolis neighborhoods in adult education programs. The Director will deliver career coaching, job placement, and employability skills training services, ensuring participants receive top-notch support and connections to opportunities that match their career aspirations. Furthermore, the Director will cultivate and nurture strategic partnerships with community organizations, employers, educational institutions, and government agencies, fostering collaborations to address workforce needs, develop training initiatives, and create employment prospects for program participants. In addition, the Director will be tasked with recruiting, training, and supervising program staff to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve program objectives.KNOW HOW

This position requires a BA/BS degree in human services, social work, education, or a related field, and 1-2 years of workforce development or career readiness experience is preferred. Strong ability to be an engaging presence leading programs and staff. Strong organizational and planning skills. Outstanding communication skills, the ability to determine and set priorities, the ability to manage work schedules, and the capacity to handle multiple tasks appropriately in a fast-paced work environment. The incumbent should possess a high level of initiative, professionalism, and a positive attitude and enjoy working in and creating a solid team environment.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Designated as a First Responder in the event of an emergency.Manages the day-to-day operations of the Employment Services Program, including workforce education, employment readiness training, career counseling and coaching, and English Conversation Circles, and facilitates and manages auxiliary supportive services, including child care and transportation, to meet participants' needs.Designs and ensures the delivery of workshops, training sessions, and other activities to enhance participants' job readiness and skills.Develop and implement customized training programs to meet the specific needs of employer partners.Implement an effective evaluation strategy documenting participant success and measuring the tangible impact and overall program quality. Work with the Development, Marketing, and Communications departments to share reports meaningfully with the YMCA's constituents, particularly the major philanthropic supporters and association and center leadership.Monitor program quality and fidelity with YMCA center staff, community partners, and educators in the respective fields.Steward corporate partner/volunteer relationships that will benefit Project Connect. Ensure that the onboarding and training process is smooth for participants and volunteers. Check-in regularly with participants, volunteers, and staff and address issues as they arise.Represent the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis in community collaboratives/partnerships/coalitions focused on economic and workforce development in our service areas.Support program expansion and growth as directed in the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis' Strategic Plan.Serve as a liaison between the Development Office and centers regarding grant management and reporting, as well as collecting and reporting outcome and community impact program data for the association and individual centers.Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.It is the policy of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to provide equal employment opportunity to employees and candidates for employment.
