Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning (AI/ML) Subject Matter Expert

working for the Department of Homeland Security's Advanced Computing Branch supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate within the Data Analytics Technology (DA-TC) in

Washington, D.C.

This position is fully remote.

What you will be doing:Maintain technical baseline competency and awareness of the state-of-the-art/art-of-the-possible.Research, analyze and interpret scientific data related to data analytics, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.Apply advanced methods and techniques towards data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.Integrate and interpret data through various methodologies.Develop, recommend, and refine methods, theories, and techniques to evaluate solutions, enhance performance standards, quality, and productivity.Apply knowledge of market and technology trends, authorities, and policies to support research decisions.Communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.

Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Applied SciencesYears of experience:

14 years of experience inFamiliarity with AI/ML, Data Engineering, or Data ScienceHands-on experience in solving problems in AI to include classification, object detection/tracking, semantic segmentation by design and trainingExperience with research and development experience in tackling cutting-edge research problems related to AI/ML or Data Science5 years of work experience in solving problems in AI including classification, object detection/tracking, semantic segmentation by design and training7 years of experience in Computer Vision and ML:Deep Learning (Supervised/Unsupervised/Transfer), Reinforcement Learning: Q-learning, SARSA, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Policy Gradients, Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Demonstrated experience in neuromorphic computing, adversarial AI/ML, or generative adversarial networksPeer-reviewed and conference publications

Preferred Experience:Certifications: IAT level IIIEducation and Experience: PhD in Engineering or Applied Sciences (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Physics, Mathematics, or Data Science) with 10 years of experience in AI/MI, Data Engineering, or Data Science
