The Business Development Director 1 reports to the Sr. Director, Business Development and Capture within the Tactical Space Systems Division. Leads all Division business development activities and is responsible for growth strategies, mission roadmaps, and investment prioritization across all programs and captures in the Civil Space Systems (CSS) portfolio. Our Civil Space Systems business unit consists of both Human Exploration and Science & Robotic Exploration programs focused on NASA, NOAA and USGS customers. Responsible to guide strategies, messaging and priorities for senior-level government and Congressional engagement. Leads a team of mission-focused Business Development professionals who collaborate across Business unit program pursuits and Enterprise functions such as Government Relations, Communications, Strategy, Enterprise Campaigns, and others to directly support program projects and growth goals. May directly support one or more programs as the Business Development lead. Specific Business Development responsibilities for the CSS Portfolio include: Mission formulation subject matter expertise to include life-cycle development, mission area analysis and requirements development. Campaign strategy planning, development, and execution to include arena and competitor analysis; opportunity identification and shaping; threat identification and mitigation; competitive assessment/intelligence analysis; execution of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and value proposition development. Support division resource allocation prioritization in support of business growth goals. Develop exceptional customer intimacy through regular contact with the customer community; coordinate and support senior level customer engagements, develop, and implement customer engagement strategies, and support media communications and trade show activities. Customer engagement, leveraging significant experience with NASA (Human Exploration and Science entities), and NOAA Agencies. The successful candidate will spend some travel time between customer and Northrop Grumman locations in Dulles, Va, Gilbert, Az, the Washington, DC area and nationwide. The preferred location for the Business Development Director 1 is Dulles, VA. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years combined experience in any of the following: Civil Space Industry Business Development and/or Strategy, Program Management, Business Management, Contracts Management, Active Military Service, or Aerospace, Systems, or related Engineering. Minimum of 3-5 years leadership experience - either leading direct reports or integrated product teams. Understanding of aerospace and defense and civil space industries and how businesses operate to create value across the landscape. Proven experience developing and sustaining customer relationships. Working knowledge of Salesforce for both pipeline development/tracking and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Significant experience in the Aerospace and Civil Space Industry with an emphasis on NASA (Human Exploration and Science entities) / NOAA/USGS customers. Sound understanding of program management, planning pursuits to technical, cost and schedule performance best practices. Experience in Fixed price and cost reimbursement contract vehicles and NASA Announcement of Opportunities (Aos). Experience in design-to-cost mission formulation. Must be US Citizen. Preferred Qualifications: Business Development or program management/execution experience in one or more programs /captures within the Civil Space Systems portfolio. Recent knowledge and experience with NASA/NOAA acquisition organizations with specific emphasis on the Human Exploration Office and Space/Earth Sciences offices. Collaboration and supplier experience in the international space science community. Knowledge of NASA's Moon to Mars Strategy; NOAA's NESDIS Strategy and NASA's Science Mission Directorate's 4 Decadal Surveys (Astrophysics, Helio physics, Planetary and Earth Sciences). Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business leaders and to internal and external customers. Must possess excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills. Up to a TS clearance preferred. Salary Range:

$190,600 - $286,000 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
