Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:People1. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting.2. Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.3. Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.4. Identifies patient problems and collaborates with the Anesthesia/Surgeon/Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions (tasks).5. Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate perioperative care.6. Promotes a healthy work environment through professional communication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problem resolution.Service1. Conducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments and documents findings.2. In collaboration with the anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic plan of management and manages all aspects of anesthesia care to include preoperative, perioperative, and immediate postoperative care.3. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.4. Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.5. Anticipates and exceeds patients' and customers' expectations that meet all elements of the Henry Ford Experience.6. Identifies services and care improvement ideas and acts on them to create excellent customer experiences.7. Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistently upholding team members to the standards across the System and adhering to Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.8. Work is generally in an operating room environment, but can be in Radiology, ICU, ER, or wherever nurse anesthesia services are required in the hospital. Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.
