The Business Development Operations Assistant will support RP’s Growth Team in various capacities, focusing on financial analysis and data-driven insights to aid the company’s growth and profitability efforts. This part-time, entry-level role is ideal for a finance major eager to apply their knowledge in a practical business setting and gain experience in financial analysis, market research, and business development.

Location Requirement: The candidate must reside within the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. This part-time, temporary position offers flexible hours to accommodate academic schedules and allows for a combination of remote and on-site work in the Ashburn, VA office as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Growth Proposal Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to support growth-focused business proposals, including collaborating with Talent Acquisition on salary surveys, assessing GSA schedule alignment and discount structures, and working with the RP pricing team to evaluate whether overall profitability meets growth and delivery objectives

Proposal Pricing Support: Assist in the development and refinement of pricing for both prime contractor and subcontractor proposals; Focus on calculating Level of Effort (LOE) estimates, ensuring compliance with government requirements, and coordinating with the pricing team to align proposal pricing with competitive and strategic objectives

Proposal Content & Reviews: Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing proposal content to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with client requirements, LOE estimates, and overall pricing

Pipeline Management Support: Assist in the management and operations of the business development pipeline by helping to update and maintain pipeline data. Support the development of dashboards and reports that communicate findings and provide insights on the alignment of the pipeline with strategic growth goals

Cross-Organizational Communication: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across RP’s organization to ensure proper tracking and progression of opportunities through the business development lifecycle

Data Management and Reporting: Create reports and maintain financial databases and dashboards to support the Growth Team in developing, monitoring, and optimizing key performance indicators (KPIs) for assessing the effectiveness of growth initiatives

Strategic Planning Support: Assist in preparing briefing materials, presentations, and discussion points for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual growth-focused meetings and strategy sessions

Requirements

Current enrollment in a college or university, pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher (or at least 2 years of academic experience) in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field

1-2 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, research, or data management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint

Proficiency in Monday CRM, Salesforce, or another CRM platform

Experience supporting a government contractor, especially within a small business environment, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this sector

Proven track record of consistently delivering high-quality results on a wide range of deliverables, effectively managing competing priorities and tight deadlines

Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, with a strong academic background in finance and accounting.

Understanding of business development processes, with hands-on experience in financial modeling to support growth initiatives and strategic decision-making.

Extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis, preferably within a government contracting environment.

Proven track record of developing and managing financial dashboards and reporting tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, ensuring data-driven insights for organizational success.

Deep expertise in financial modeling techniques, with experience in creating complex financial models for decision support, investment analysis, and strategic planning, contributing to effective financial management and strategy development.
