Position SummaryThe Driver is responsible for transporting residents (individuals or groups) to and fromscheduled appointments, activities, and other functions or locations. The Driver maytransport visitors and employees for special occasions, as designated. The position requiresa Class B certified driver's license (CDL) with an air brake endorsement and may drive all types of company vehicles.The Driver is expected to maintain their CDL, operate more sophisticated vehicles andalways adhere to road and safety rules. Assists with maintaining vehicles and equipmentin accordance with established policies, procedures, and as directed by the supervisor.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTransports residents, or groups of residents, to and from appointments, lifeenrichment activities, meal service and other locations on or off the communitygrounds, as necessary. Assists all residents with getting in and out of the vehicles and with any additional items or equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, medical records, or otherpaperwork, grocery bags and/or personal items. May escort residents into or outof the location and/or may wait for residents during the visit or appointment,when appropriate.Accommodates the pick-up and drop-off of community vehicles to and from service appointments.Advises supervisor of needed vehicle repairs and other needs.Maintains cleanliness and proper service for each vehicle (fuel, lubricants, etc.); immediately reports wear and tear or damage to the supervisor.May be required to assist with emergencies, and other situations, as needed.
Job QualificationsThe Drivermust have a valid, class B commercial driver's license with an air brake endorsement and a clean driving record. Must meet the Department of Transportation testing and requirements to maintain licensure. Preferred: Prior professional driving experience.
