Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Automation Engineer for the Radar Sub Array Manufacturing area.

This position focuses on Manufacturing Automation for the Microelectronics Assembly area.The Principal/Senior Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:Process Development

Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on affordability.

Creating and managing to project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for process development activities.

Providing ROI justification for process improvements.

Specifying, identifying and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production.

Developing and optimizing process parameters.

Developing/revising process documentation and work instructions.

Assisting with design of custom tooling.

Supporting manual and highly automated microelectronics machinery.

Factory Support

Monitoring process yields and cost, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on these metrics.

Creating, validating and maintaining automatic equipment programs.

Solving manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, people) in a timely manner.

Assisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials.

Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.

Working in cross-functional teams to execute RCCAs and lean initiatives.

Interfacing with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Design Support

Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products.

Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers.

Participating in design producibility reviews for new products.

This req may be filled as a Principal or Senior Principal based on the qualifications below.Basic Qualifications for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM degree, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (3 years with a Masters).

Manufacturing/Process Engineering experience.

Experience in an automated manufacturing environment.

Fluency in MS Office software applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM degree, with a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience (7 years with a Masters).

Manufacturing/Process Engineering experience.

Experience in an automated manufacturing environment.

Fluency in MS Office software applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD hardware requirements.

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience with automated equipment and transport systems.

Experience with the design or manufacturing of microelectronics technology and materials.

Salary Range:

$102,400 - $153,600Salary Range 2:

$127,000 - $190,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
