Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services within its Service Delivery Area.

Under the general direction of the Medical Director and Chief Behavioral Health Officer, the Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric care for adults and children/adolescents and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for patients with opioid use disorders, adhering to Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and The Joint Commission Standards.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Serves as the attending psychiatrist for assigned behavioral health adults and youth.

Elicits and records information about patient's medical and psychological history.

Examines patient to determine general physical condition.

Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic assessments.

Analyzes reports and findings of tests and diagnoses condition.

Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs.

Refers patients to medical specialists for specialized treatment.

Reviews Comprehensive Treatment Plan to indicate modifications and progress at least monthly.

Timely evaluation and documentation of the patient's current medication regime and progress.

Provide supervision for conditionally licensed prescribing psychologist as needed.

Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

Abides by all clinic policies, medical staff bylaws, and rules and regulations.

Act in accordance with good citizenship and professional standards.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Experience in applying knowledge of behavioral health systems.

Excellent communication skills to give clear instructions and delegate authority.

Ability to provide diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.

Concise communication and ability to work well with staff and patients.

Knowledge of policies and procedures.

Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.

Other duties as assigned.

Relationships and Authority:

This position has no supervisory duties.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

This position is in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school required.

Board certified, or board eligible, in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and/or Adult Psychiatry, and must possess or be eligible for licensure in Nebraska.

Must possess a DATA 2000.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Valid driver's license and be insurable.

Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.

Able and willing to travel.

Preferred:

Two or more years' experience in providing individual, family, and group counseling.

One year experience working with Native Americans or organizations.

Knowledge of Public Law 93-638 Indian Self-Determination Act.

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
