Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services within its Service Delivery Area.

The Staff Dentist will provide primary dental care services to all federally recognized enrolled Tribal members and other eligible patients, performing professional dental work to address their oral health needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide primary and secondary preventative measures, including emergency services, oral health education, and restorative treatments.

Supervise dental support staff and assist in training dental residents and assistants.

Maintain adequate and current dental records, ensuring they remain the property of the employer.

Assist in the development of the oral health care plan and document quality improvement results.

Coordinate with the Chief Dental Officer on dental health planning and scheduling.

Relationships and Authority:

The employee is responsible to the Supervisory Dentist and the Chief Dental Officer for the provision of dental care. The dentist supervises the chair-side dental assistant, dental hygienist, and front desk staff.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Work requires long periods of standing, bending, and lifting supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. Work may involve interacting with emotionally upset patients and visitors.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Dentistry.

License to practice dentistry in any state or U.S. territory with no restrictions.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

CPR certified.

Computer proficiency with dental software experience.

Valid driver's license and insurable.

Pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.

Able and willing to travel.

Preferred:

One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.

Dental faculty or teaching experience.

One year of experience as a Dentist in Nebraska or a reciprocal state/territory.

Knowledge of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self Determination Act.

Knowledge of Dentrix Enterprise practice management software and Dexis imaging software.

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is an at-will employer.
