Position Summary

Recent retirement of faculty members provides opportunities to join the Division of Occupational Therapy at the University of New Mexico. Applications are invited for the position of Division Chief. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and a supportive environment. Rank, track and tenure status will be commensurate with educational background and experience.

The UNM Occupational Therapy Graduate Program is an R-1 Institution located in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Albuquerque, which lies in the high desert ecosystem of central New Mexico. In addition to the world-renowned Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque boasts easy access to skiing, golfing and countless hiking and biking trails. The program emphasizes cultural richness with a diverse student body seeking to serve the rural communities of our state. The UNM Health Sciences Center offers opportunities for inter-professional education and collaborations with centers such as the Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), Memory and Aging Center, Clinical and Translational Sciences Center (CTSC), and the Brain and Behavioral Health Institute.

The Occupational Therapy Graduate Program is entering a new period of growth as our post professional occupational therapy doctorate degree was approved and enrolled our first students in fall 2023. A 10-year re-accreditation was just received for the entry level MOT degree program through 2032/33.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Leadership and administration of the program including: curriculum development, budget and fiscal management, facilities/academic reports and records management.Serving as professional liaison with the university and national/local communities.Teaching courses at the MOT and ppOTD levels, graduate student thesis/project advising and research mentoring, committee work, and scholarly and service activity.Recruitment and management of nine core faculty, two administrative staff, and a diverse student body (approximately 80 students total).Qualifications

Minimum QualificationsDoctoral degreeAcademic credentials for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or AboveFour years of full-time faculty experienceTwo years of occupational therapy clinical experienceEligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in the state of New MexicoPreferred QualificationsResearch doctoral degreeMore than 5 years full-time faculty experienceExperience in program administration and managementEvidence of teaching and/or curriculum development experience and effectivenessEvidence of scholarly activityEvidence of mentoring graduate students on research, capstone or other scholarly projectsSuccess in obtaining research and/or programmatic fundingEvidence of organizational and/or professional leadershipA demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communitiesApplication Instructions
