The VP, General Manager - Commercial Operations is a leadership role requiring extensive experience in driving revenue opportunities and the operational and financial performance of the brand. This role will partner with key sales, editorial and corporate leadership to position the organization for sustainable future growth.Reporting to the Group Brand President, the VP, General Manager - Commercial Operations will lead and run the sales and operations efforts across the various brands within the group. This person will also be tapped to work with corporate finance and the Group Brand President on budgeting, forecasting and product modeling.Strategic Responsibilities include:

Actively engage in understanding the business from all angles. Assess overall business performance and implement near and longer-term operating plan.Collaborate with advertising strategy and marketing leadership to ensure team maximizes revenue opportunities from existing and future products.Collaborate with advertising strategy to identify, prioritize, and implement new product and revenue initiatives that add value for target audiences and marketing clients - through digital media, mobile and video, paid content products, branded programs and events, and integrated marketing services.Work with sales leads to ensure business pipelines are robust and identify new areas of revenue growth for the brands.Make decisions that best position the organization and its resources to achieve near term and longer-term goals.Ensure team is properly trained and educated on all new products, selling techniques, etc. to maximize revenue.Day-to-Day Responsibilities include:

Provide direction to sales leadership and sales support team to drive revenue.Manage day to day budget and operations for the brand group to assess and manage resources to balance revenue and growth goals.Work with sales leaders to meet monthly ad sales targets.Work with Brand President to manage costs, focusing on meeting brand margin targets.Work with the sales enablement team to ensure client expectations and reporting requirements are met.Ensure that sales managers and teams are using CRM to manage and grow revenue pipelines.Streamline financial reporting working with finance team.Experience:

Versatile, hands-on experience in managing and growing a digital or integrated media business with multiple revenue streams. Ideal background includes recent experience managing the commercial side of a digital native news or media business, and/or management roles within one or more media properties that have embraced digital-first publishing and marketing practices.Demonstrated experience managing a full P&L and a cross-functional organization.General management skill set, gained through a functional background in ad sales, operations, and/or strategic business.A career progression that lends itself to trusted industry relationships and profile with major national marketers, ad agencies and the digital media community.Broad knowledge and passion for the marketing industry; must be conversant with the current issues and trends facing leading marketers and media companies.Success in working collaboratively with editors, media, strategy, and product staff.A track record in hiring, coaching, and mentoring talented teams.Style:

The estimated base salary range for this position is $250,000 - $275,000. This position is also eligible for a commission plan in addition to base salary.The final salary offering will take into account a wide range of specific and relevant factors, including experience, accomplishments and location. The salary range provided should not be considered as a salary limit or cap.
