Essential Job Duties and Functions: Assists in the installation and repair of broadband equipment such as microwave radios and broadband access points. Assists in the LAN/WAN Topology designs, installation and follow-up testing of installed broadband city-wide. Assists in the modification of other communications equipment. Assists in the initiation and/or maintenance of records; documents the maintenance, installation, removal and modification of electronic systems and equipment. May operate and use specialized tools. Assists in the installation, modification, or removal of radio base stations and wireless backhauls. Assists in the installation of mobile radio equipment on various specialized City vehicles. Assists in the installation of burglar alarm and video camera systems on City buildings. Orders and tracks repair parts needed; assists in locating part numbers and vendors. Assists in interfacing with vendors and suppliers. Maintains and organizes the parts room. Operates motor vehicles to respond to service calls. Perform related duties as required. Work Location:
Incumbent will conduct the majority of work at various City Agencies throughout the City of San Francisco as well as some remote CCSF facilities outside of the City and County of San Francisco. Nature of Work:
Incumbent must be willing to work a 40-hour week as determined by the department. Travel within San Francisco may be required. Telecommuting options are available upon appointing officer’s approval. Job Appointment Type:
Temporary Exempt (TEX) - Full Time (2 positions). How to qualify
Education:
Completion of high school, supplemented by at least two (2) years of electronics training at a junior college or recognized vocational institution or its equivalent. Experience:
One (1) year of industrial electronics work, including fabrication, installation, calibration, maintenance, trouble-shooting and repair of electronics systems and equipment. License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License. Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of broadband equipment. Ability to configure network switches and broadband access points. Microwave radio experience. NOTE:
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates must successfully pass the medical testing process. Background investigations may be required. What else should I know?
Compensation:
