The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience, focusing on proactive and reactive confidentiality and data protection matters, including managing data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance with various legal and contractual obligations. The role demands exceptional project management skills, effective communication, and the ability to navigate complex technical and legal environments.Key Responsibilities:Provide expert legal advice on privacy and security obligations, including compliance with state, federal, and international data security incident notification requirements.Manage and advise on data security incidents, including overseeing the investigation process and coordinating with technical experts to understand the scope and implications of breaches.Defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and cybersecurity, including preparing and responding to inquiries from regulatory bodies.Draft, review, and negotiate contracts focusing on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity provisions.Monitor and assess emerging privacy and data protection laws, regulations, and standards to ensure clients’ compliance.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and business units, to provide comprehensive legal guidance on cybersecurity matters.Develop and implement strategies for proactive risk management and compliance in data privacy and cybersecurity.Conduct training sessions and workshops on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity issues for clients and internal teams.Lead and manage complex legal projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to client requirements.Requirements:A minimum of 7+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity law, preferably within a law firm or in-house legal department.Proven experience advising on state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.Demonstrated ability to defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and cybersecurity.Strong understanding of privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.Experience with cybersecurity breach response and incident management.Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills.Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear legal advice for non-technical stakeholders.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.A proactive approach to learning and understanding new technologies and forensic investigations.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in the California State Bar.Skills:Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection laws and regulations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and the ability to manage complex legal issues.Proficiency in legal research and drafting.Excellent project management and organizational skills.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade.Job Location:Los Angeles, CACompany info
