THE ROLEWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Broker to join our Houston-based team working across the Steel and Scrap Market. Responsible for promoting FIS and arranging trades on behalf of clients, you will be dynamic and personable with a passion for the financial markets. You will be a natural networker, having a proactive approach to generating leads and securing new business. Ideal candidates will have experience in the commodities space.Requirements
Key Responsibilities:Promote FIS as a company, providing market intelligence and analysis to clients.Arrange trades via voice broking on behalf of clients for execution at relevant exchanges.Create liquidity and price discovery with entities including Exchanges, SI’s, MTF’s, clearers, prime brokers, and prop traders.Maintain and create relationships with other brokers when there is no liquidity from Liquidity Providers.Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, making regular contact and tracking daily trading activities.Proactively solicit feedback from industry participants via trade calls, surveys, industry events, trade shows, and conferences.Identify and seize new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products, and clients.Produce a daily/weekly update of market prices and market direction for international desks.On-board new clients following correct Compliance and Operations procedures.Regularly assess client needs and financial conditions to identify internal cross-selling opportunities.Perform any other reasonable duties the company may require.Risk Related Responsibilities:Understand regulation within the evolving regulatory landscape.Support a risk and compliance aware culture and comply with all FIS company policies and handbooks.Exercise judgement and act with integrity, due care, skill, and diligence and be open and co-operative with the NFA, other regulators, and exchanges.Ensure full awareness of and adhere to internal policies that relate to the role or any relevant other activities.Observe standards of market conduct/ethics and ensure understanding and adherence to all regulatory, exchange, or clearing house requirements applicable to the role.Qualifications:Possess sound knowledge of Steel & Scrap products and markets - preferred.Strong client focus; personable and engaging, building relationships and networks wherever possible - essential.Degree in Economics, Geology or related degree – preferred.Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues - essential.Tenacious and thrives in a pressured environment – essential.Team-oriented; works well with others and diverse groups/personalities – essential.Excellent attention to detail; strong analytical and numeracy skills – essential.Must be willing to take Series 3 NFA test or have Series 3 NFA credentials.Our rapidly growing business offers a dynamic environment for talented, entrepreneurial professionals to achieve results and grow their careers.• Competitive salary and discretionary bonus• Learning & Development / CPD opportunitiesFIS is an equal opportunity employer.
