The VP of Engineering will define, prioritize, and lead the daily executions of the software development and information technology teams. This person must create a team-oriented, problem-solving culture focused on ingenuity and performance.A day in the life!You will be responsible for the following:Build and lead high performing software development teams and information technology teamsDevelop a technology strategy and implementation plan that aligns to the business, product development, and architecture evolution plansManage multiple projects using the Agile methodologyDrive engineering improvement based on metrics and factsCreate a culture of innovation to deliver a first in class productCollaborate across Solutions Management, Client Services, Marketing, Sales, and other teamsRepresent the Connected Networks Business Unit across WellSky as a Senior member of its leadership teamInstill development best practice that drives a high-quality resultMentor, train, and help grow the engineering management teamConsistently demonstrate the values of continuous improvement, ownership, and transparencySet project priorities and coordinate the projects from development through implementation, including staffing requirements, work plans, deadlines, completeness, and adherence to established policies, procedures, and standardsDrive architectural decisions that improve scalability, performance, and the overall user experience of the productCollaborate with Executive Management, Solutions Management, Marketing, Sales, and Client Services to competitively differentiate the product and resolve issues that affect successFoster a results-oriented, continuous-improvement environment based on Agile principlesHelp us continue to build a great product that will increase revenue and exceed customer expectationsDo you have what it takes?Required Qualifications:10-12 years related work experience5-6 years people management and hands-on engineering work experienceExpert with the Scrum Methodology of the Agile software development processPossess strong software architecture and technology skillsCapable of attracting, managing, retaining, and developing a diverse group of technology professionalsDeadline-driven and self-motivatedWorks well in a constantly changing ambiguous environmentProven success in scaling and leading a development organizationStrong process and project/system management skillsAbility to work as an effective leader and develop working relationships needed to accomplish organizational goalsAbility to solicit constructive input from and build consensus among groups and constituencies with differing priorities and perspectivesUnderstand the current and evolving needs of existing and potential customersHave a strong technical and operational understanding of QA, production environment requirements, version control, and infrastructureHave exceptional problem-solving skillsExperience building enterprise scale applications using the following technologies would be considered a plus - Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, HAML/ERB, jQuery, React, RSpec, Capybara, and Redis.Additional job expectations applicable to this position include:Willingness to work additional or irregular hours as neededWorking in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and proceduresPerforming other responsibilities as assignedWellSky is where independent thinking and collaboration come together to create an authentic culture.
