CO2 capture use and storage has been identified as an important element in delivering on the company’s commitment to Net Zero. We are actively developing several Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects and pilots in the US & Canada. As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are currently searching for a Carbon Capture Technology Manager that has had exposure to various carbon capture technologies that are applicable to the cement industry. The role is designed to support the business with expertise in carbon capture technologies and carbon management processes and expand our internal capabilities as we develop various exciting projects in the USA and Canada. Reporting to the Director, CCUS Projects (North America), you will be involved in all phases of various CCUS projects in the region (feasibility, conceptual, pilots, technology selection, basic engineering, FEED, EPC, etc.), you will have an opportunity to drive business decisions and make a real-world impact through project development delivering deep decarbonization in a hard-to-abate industry. You will form part of a dynamic collaborative team of professionals focused on CCUS and cement decarbonization. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Serve as a subject matter expert in process engineering for carbon capture projects and lead the capture technology aspects of feasibility, concept selection, FEED studies. Support EPC phases of projects that move to execution. Use process engineering skills to evaluate and challenge process design, heat and material balances, balance of plant design, etc. Verify and challenge design & process aspects of carbon capture technologies, namely amine absorption, adsorption, cryogenic separation, pressure swing adsorption systems, membrane-based separation technologies, etc. Conduct technology selection for carbon capture projects by identifying and evaluating potential technology providers and their offerings. Develop innovative concepts for pilot plants using advanced next-generation technologies. Integrate CO2 capture technologies in cement plants (optimizing tie-ins, heat integration, CO2 concentration increases, etc.) Evaluate the design of pre-treatment systems to ensure flue gas meets required specifications before entering the carbon capture plant. Support technical aspects of balance of plant systems, including flue gas treatment, cooling water system, water and effluent treatment system, CO2 compression and transportation. Supporting technical concept selection during the project development phase for cement plants of the Group considering the specific boundary conditions. Conduct and participate in HS&E assessments such as HAZID/HAZOP. Represent Holcim and the CCUS team in different project meetings and/or conferences, share knowledge and best practices. Coordination of various technology stakeholders at global level in the field of CCUS. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to Holcim’s sustainability and environmental goals by leading the critical aspects of carbon capture technology in our CCUS strategy. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree or years of equivalent experience. Field of Study Preferred: Chemical Engineering Required Work Experience: 10 years experience on industrial gases, natural gas processing and/or CO2 capture projects: Travel Requirements: Able to travel as needed for feasibility studies and supporting project managers. Travel required ~25% of the time. Mainly in the USA and Canada.
