Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced

Senior Accounting Analyst

with excellent customer service skills and a

CPA

to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Finance and Controller, the Senior Accounting Analyst will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of PPLA’s general ledger and financial statements. This position is expected to function with a minimum amount of oversight while performing complex accounting work that requires the application of accounting theories, concepts, principles and standards to the financial activities of PPLA. The work involves preparing and analyzing financial statements, analyzing variances between actual and budget as well as monthly variances, preparing cash flow analysis, reconciling accounts and verifying them to source documents, and preparing analytical schedules necessary for the financial audit.Over one hundred years ago, Planned Parenthood was founded on the idea that everyone should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance requiredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) License requiredAt least four (4) years general accounting experience including journal entry preparation and account reconciliationExperience working with budgets and performing variance analysesExperience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), FRX reporting, Excel and WordAbout the position:

Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations and by all PPLA employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.Perform timely and accurate month-end closing of the general ledger, typically handling the more sensitive, difficult or complex closing activitiesAnalyze financial results in comparison to the budget, as well as comparisons by month and prior year. Identify trends or anomalies in accounting system transactions and evaluate their significance of impact to ongoing programs, operations, and financial statementsReconcile accounts to their source documents and maintain lead schedules that will be necessary for the financial audit. Propose and execute adjustments related to reconciliations in a timely mannerProvide in-depth analysis and reconciliations of complex financial data to ensure that applicable regulations and accounting procedures are observedPerform analytical review and reconciliation of all assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all transactionsMaintain Fixed Asset records, including but not limited to depreciation and other schedulesLead or participate in the support of work paper development and tasks related to external financial auditsPrepare and/or review journal entries as needed. Work closely with Senior Director of Finance and Controller and activities associated with the timely, efficient and accurate month-end closing of the General LedgerParticipate in internal and external audits conducted to ensure compliance with required County, State or Federal programs, procedures and requirementsPrepare month end inventory valuation schedule, analyze inventory month over month and evaluate variances in medication costsPrepare reports such as inventory turnover report and coordinate with the purchasing department to update PAR levels and acquisition costs for inventoryMonthly and quarterly reconciliation of investment accounts and preparing the roll forward schedules. Book appropriate Journal Entries for all dividends, interest income, realized and unrealized gains/loss reconciling items associated with donor fundsReview all invoices for appropriate General Ledger coding and accountingGenerous salary and benefits package includes:
