This is a hybrid role that can be located in Charlotte, NC or Denver, CO.We invite you to bring your expertise and energy into play as you lead project teams to support the development of chemical process designs for a variety of industrial clients.

To succeed in this role you must have proven experience with industrial projects and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

Are you our new Lead Process Engineer?As our new Lead Process Engineer you will be part of our Process Engineering & Consulting Group in Ramboll’s Advanced Manufacturing practice, using your technical expertise to lead and execute the process scopes of projects in the specialty chemical manufacturing and alternative energy markets. In this role, you will be working closely with other process engineers and with our multi-discipline design/engineering staff located in offices across the US to collaborate on the total life cycle of projects, from the preparation of proposals, scope of work write-ups, and estimation of engineering labor and fees to the technical studies, detailed engineering design and transition to constructability reviews.Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:Develop engineering studies, front-end loading (FEL) evaluations, detailed designs, and cost estimates for industrial processes.Perform engineering calculations and develop study reports summarizing results.Prepare heat and materials balances, process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, control system philosophies, and other design documents.Solicit and review process equipment quotations, develop technical bid evaluations, select equipment suppliers, and review fabrication approval drawings.Lead process design activities with a multi-discipline project team, including coordination, review, and oversight of team member’s work.Manage budget and schedule performance on process tasks.Communicate and document effectively with project team, including outside contacts, customers, and other engineering departments.Be active in the pursuit of new projects/work for the process group, including preparation of proposals, scope of work write-ups, and estimation of engineering labor hours and fees.For this role, we believe your starting point is:Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and

8 or more years of relevant experience in successful execution of preliminary and detailed design, procurement, and construction phase services for industrial projectsProficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)Professional Engineer (PE) license preferredExperience with Piping & Instrumentation Diagram Development (AutoCAD P&ID or similar)Experience with Hydraulic Modeling Software (PIPE-FLO or similar)Experience with Chemical Simulation Software (CHEMCAD or similar)Experience with Process Hazard Analyses (PHAWorks or similar)0-20% travel, valid driver’s license requiredPersonal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:Strong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in teams and independently, in an office environment, virtually, or at a project siteMotivated to mentor, coach and support the development of technical process expertise with less experienced engineering staffWillingness to continue to improveParticipates actively in creating a safety culture in the office and at the jobsite.How to applyApply online.
