If these sound like your skills, attributes, and desires, then you should apply for the position of Protection of Minors with University of Alaska's Department of Environmental Health, Safety, & Risk Management.

The Protection of Minors Manager should be well-organized, responsible, and have good communication skills. They should be able to learn quickly and be creative. A background in social work, case management, criminal justice, compliance, or risk management would be useful in this position. The Protection of Minors Manager should be able to collaborate with other programs, have experience in developing training, and knowledge of policy implementation.

To thrive in this role, the Protection of Minors Manager should possess the following:

Knowledge of the principles, practices and theories of risk management, child abuse and molestation prevention practices and regulations and be able to stay current with trends in these areas.

Be able to read and interpret law, regulation, and policy as it applies to protection of minors and develop mitigation to manage potential risks that may occur due to an activity associated with a minor program or other University risks.

Must possess excellent writing skills, be an effective communicator and consensus builder, have the ability to train staff, faculty, and volunteers on UAF policy and procedures as they pertain to minors and risk.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice or a similar field or a combination of degree and experience.

Must have or be able to obtain an Alaska Driver’s license, and travel when needed to UAF off campus sites, including rural campuses, and for training.

4 years or more years of demonstrated experience evaluating, coordinating and developing training on policy or procedural subject matter, developing policies and procedures for protection of minors, University or K-12 experience, or working with or caring for minors.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Position Details:

This position is located on-site on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and

full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the

UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 79, based on education and experience.
