Department Summary

The TRIO Programs at the University of North Texas at Dallas support the academic development of students from target schools. They are federally funded grants serving low-income, first-generation students.

Position Overview

The Upward Bound Program Coordinator (UB) is responsible for supporting the UB program, requiring a general working knowledge of TRIO programs, specifically Upward Bound. The Program Coordinator will assist with data collection, program monitoring, student support, community outreach, and program marketing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to use complex computer applications.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to work independently and lead project teams.

Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the functional area.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related fields.

Experience in a TRIO federal program or similar project with low-income, first-generation students.

Job Duties:

Identify, recruit, select, and deliver services to participants each year, collecting appropriate demographics and documentation for the application process.

Conduct workshops and activities regarding college selection, career awareness, financial aid, tutoring, and academic advising.

Track assigned college-ready participants and provide technical assistance with college and financial procedures.

Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports regarding participant progress and postsecondary enrollment.

Use personal transportation for travel to and from target schools and community activities, participating in some weekend meetings and events.

Review participants' needs assessments and develop Individualized Action Plans (IAP) for support services.

Document all services and activities provided to participants via contact logs and database entries.

Adhere to established plans, policies, and federal TRIO regulations.

Responsible for administrative support, including budget preparation.

Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm;
