Salary: $50,000 (includes $600 annual uniform allowance and $50/month cell phone allowance)Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:Enforce state laws and university rulesPerform patrol assignments in department vehicle, on bicycle, or on foot, as assignedCheck buildings for security, fire, and safety hazardsInvestigate vehicular crashes, complaints, and other incidentsPrepare and submit incident reports, activity reports, and crime reportsIssue parking and uniform citations, participate in traffic appeals process as directedProvide emergency medical care (first aid) to sick and injured personsFunction as an information source for visitorsControl and monitor traffic flowApprehend, arrest, and process criminal violatorsMaintain community relations by focusing on information and educationParticipate in judicial proceedings as required or directedInspect and maintain patrol vehicle and issued equipment for operability and serviceability conditionServe as essential personnel and provide assistance in the event of an emergency on campusAssist with administrative duties such as filing, bike registrations, dispatch of personnel, and answering 911 callsRequirements

Required:Must meet the requirements of Chapter 943.13 F.S. and be currently Law Enforcement Certified (have passed the state exam and certification is not inactive due to break in service) or currently enrolled in a Florida Public Service Academy (Police Academy) and will be eligible to take the Florida Law Enforcement exam upon successful completionMust pass the (PAT) physical abilities timed testMust be available to work various shifts including day, afternoon, and night hours on a rotational basis in accordance with the school year or as needs on the university dictatePreferred:Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice or related fieldExperience in law enforcement within an educational institution or large municipal agencyQualifications

Knowledge of laws, law enforcement principles, rules of evidence, and investigative techniquesExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsSkilled in the use of basic first aid and CPRAbility to thrive in an organization that values diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environmentAbility to understand and follow safety proceduresAbility to gather and organize legal evidenceAbility to gather data, maintain records, and prepare reports and other written materialsAbility to provide legal depositions and testimonyAbility to respond quickly, calmly, and effectively to emergency situationsAbility to complete accident and criminal investigationsAbility to provide protection services to individuals on campusAbility to utilize building security and lock systemsAbility to operate police equipmentAbility to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessaryLocation
