Morehouse School of Medicine is undergoing a national search as it seeks a new Chair for the Department of Medicine, an exciting strategic opportunity for leaders in academic medicine. The next Department Chair must be a compelling and innovative leader whose passion for the educational, clinical, and research missions energize Morehouse School of Medicine’s faculty, staff, and learners, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence in all missions.Reporting to Morehouse School of Medicine Executive Vice President of Health Affairs and Dean (EVP/Dean) Dr. J. Adrian Tyndall, the Chair of the Department of Medicine will partner with the EVP/Dean in articulating, directing, and executing on MSM’s vision, mission, and strategies.The new Chair will have the responsibility for the development and maintenance of efficient and effective operations and the promotion of collaborative work relationships between faculty and staff at all levels.Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent foreign degreeCurrent board certification in General Internal Medicine and/or a related internal medicine subspecialty area is requiredThe Chair of Medicine must also have an appropriate record of scholarship, teaching, and service to meet the requirements for Full Professor at Morehouse School of MedicinePreferred Qualifications
Must demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and drive change in a complex academic environment.Closing Date
