The Department of Nursing is seeking adjunct clinical faculty to provide clinical instruction and supervision to students in the BSN program. Clinical faculty may also mentor clinical staff in the Designated Education Units (DEUs) of community partner facilities who are working directly with BSN students. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, clinical presence, and practical expertise to engage students in active learning and assessment and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching and mentoring graduate students of all backgrounds, including those who are traditionally underrepresented in Nursing. The Nursing Department is committed to building an intellectually vibrant and culturally inclusive community for our students, preceptors, faculty, and staff.Responsibilities
Coordinate Medical-Surgical/clinical practicum experience for BSN studentsCollaborate with the Lead Faculty and Nurse Manager of the clinical unit to assure a quality clinical practicum experience for studentsTeach up to a 16-hour/week medical-surgical clinical practicum that requires availability Wednesday through Friday and an occasional SaturdayParticipate with other course faculty in a 2-hour clinical conference each weekGrade required courseworkComplete student’s final clinical evaluationKeep the Lead Faculty informed of any concerns regarding student progression or clinical performanceMentor the clinical staff in the DEU who are working directly with the BSN students in their role as clinical instructors/mentorsServe as ambassador for Gonzaga University School of Nursing and Human Physiology.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in nursingMinimum of 3 years of current experience in medical-surgical and/or oncology nursingUnencumbered Washington state RN licenseDesired Qualifications
Master of Science degree in nursingPrevious clinical teaching experienceOpen Date
