POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Vice President of Student Services (VPSS) reports directly to the President and is a member of the senior staff. The VPSS serves as the Chief Student Services Officer and is responsible for comprehensive student services, including planning, policy, and budget development/management.

ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university; and

One year of full-time formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment. The required degree must be completed at the time of filing an application.

Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socioeconomic, academic, cultural, and ethnic diversity within the community college population, including students with physical and/or learning disabilities.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of successful full-time experience (dean or higher) in accredited institutions of higher education.

Successful full-time experience as a faculty member in accredited institutions of higher education.

Community College experience.

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.

Knowledge of the California Education Code related to Student Services.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in participatory governance, consensus building, and team management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with accreditation and student learning outcomes (SLOs).

Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides overall leadership for the college in all operational activities related to Student Services at all college locations.

Ensures that all Student Services Programs complete timely and accurate governmental reporting and compliance with laws and regulations within the area of responsibility.

Oversees the coordination of the Education Master Plan goals and objectives assigned to Student Services, with special emphasis on student success.

Actively participates in the college's shared governance committees and plays a leadership role.

On an ongoing basis, provides leadership for accreditation issues related to Student Services. Coordinates annual unit plans and program reviews, and service outcomes.

Oversees the planning and implementation of the Student Support Success program.

Administers the following areas in conjunction with college personnel:

Associated Student Union (Student Activities)

Athletics

Basic Needs Center

Behavioral Intervention Team

Black Scholars

CAFYES

CalWORKs

Career Center

College Culture Re-Entry Hub

Counseling

Dream Resource Center

DSPS

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)/CARE

Financial Aid programs

Foster Kinship Care Education

International Students Program

Outreach and Recruitment

Promise

Puente Program

Student Health Center

TRIO

Transfer Center

Veterans Resource Center

Welcome Center

Supervises and evaluates assigned faculty, clerical and administrative staff.

Represents the college in district, regional, and state level activities related to Student Services operations.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the President.

SALARY:

LACCD determines placement on the pay scale depending on verified education and experience. Current starting annual salary range is from:

$202,627 - $251,019.
