Position Summary

In the Data and Student Information Manager (DSIM), KIPP is seeking an experienced professional committed to managing and maintaining impeccable student information, data and records, assisting with seamless school operations and supporting excellent teaching and learning by providing the data needed to inform decisions related to enrollment, attendance and academic progress.The DSIM at KIPP is the school-level student information system (SIS) manager, manages all student records and works with KIPP’s Regional Support Office to manage our annual compliance calendar and ensure records and reporting are aligned with local, state and federal laws and regulations. They are responsible for managing student registration, scheduling students, ensuring accurate daily attendance, maintaining complete student files, supporting standardized testing, managing online grade books, and running report cards, progress reports and transcripts. In addition, they are responsible for training and supporting staff with school-level issues related to PowerSchool and SchoolMint.The DSIM reports to the Director of School Operations (DSO) and works closely with the Regional Data and Operations team, the School Operations team, and School Leadership.Preferred QualificationsExperience:Deep integrity and commitment to KIPP Public Schools’ mission and values required2+ years of project or program management experience, including demonstrated ability to work with data and navigate computer systems and applications, requiredExperience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment requiredPrior experience working in a K-12 school preferredEducation:Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of work experience or 4+ years’ work experience requiredKnowledge/skills required:Self-awareness and a commitment to continuous learningAdept at problem solving and decision making, with a keen attention to detailAbility to self-direct, prioritize and multi-task among competing goalsDemonstrated ability to work well with others and build relationships across teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite requiredPrevious experience or familiarity with school-level data management systems (PowerSchool, CALPADS, SchoolMint, SchoolMessenger) preferredEssential Functions and ResponsibilitiesManages the school’s lottery, registration and enrollment processOversees day-to-day attendance and truancy policy and proceduresLeads the collection, cleaning and management of all student information and dataSupports with high school scheduling and tracking student progress to graduationEnsure student data integrity and compliance with all local, state and federal reporting guidelinesPhysical, Mental and Environmental Demands

Physical:

Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally, much of the day involves sitting. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs.

Mental:

Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize and recall objects and people.

Environmental:

Office environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions.
