Development Director, Development DepartmentAbout Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AtlantaAsian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta is the first nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the civil rights of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) and Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities in Georgia and the Southeast. We envision a social movement in which communities of color are fully empowered, active in civic life, and working together to promote equity, fair treatment, and self determination for all.Founded in 2010 as the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC), our organization became part of the Asian Americans Advancing Justice affiliation in 2014. Since then, we have re-organized our work into four major focus areas: Policy Advocacy, Organizing & Civic Engagement, Impact Litigation, and Legal Services.About The (Department) TeamThe Development Department at Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta is responsible for securing revenue from institutions (foundations and corporations), individual giving, and events. Working in collaboration with programmatic and operational departments as well as the Executive Director, the Development department identifies donors and cultivates and stewards these relationships with the aim of securing long-term financial sustainability for the organization. The team currently consists of the Development Director and two Development Associates.Position Summary:The Development Director will play a key role in Advancing Justice - Atlanta’s growth, leading the design, implementation, and continued development of Advancing Justice’s Annual Fund and comprehensive fundraising strategy

consisting of grants, individual giving, and events. The Director will work

closely with the Executive Director and leadership team and supervise the Development team.How You’ll Contribute to Our Impact:Annual Fund:Developing, implementing, and managing the annual fund for Advancing JusticeInstitutional Funding:Lead institutional funding (foundations and corporations) proposals supporting 80+ institutional grants per yearManage grant reporting process in collaboration with program directorsIdentify and cultivate new foundation and corporate relationshipsManage grant compliance in collaboration with CFO, program directorsDevelop and maintain ongoing relationships with institutional fundersIndividual Giving:Oversee individual giving program to continue growing the number and size of gifts as well as number of sustaining donorsSupervise and provide thought partnership to Development Associates in creating ladders of engagement and touchpoints for donor engagement and involvement with Advancing Justice - Atlanta work and communityLead development of fundraising collateral and donor communicationsSupervise and provide thought partnership to Development Associates on developing and executing creative and engaging digital fundraising campaigns (Giving Tuesday, End of Year Giving, and others as determined by program directors)Events:Oversee a growing portfolio of annual events, including the SouthEATS APAHM fundraiser as well as fall galaSupervise event design process in collaboration with leadership teamDevelop and maintain relationships with community partners for collaboration on and promotion of eventsDevelopment Operations:Develop and execute Advancing Justice - Atlanta’s annual fundraising strategy and plan, in addition to developing annual budget for the development departmentOversee implementation of individual giving database, grants tracker, and other systems and processes to manage gift and grants processing as well as donor relationships, including identifying and implementing new technologies and platforms as neededWhat You’ll Bring to the Team:Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high degree of responsiveness and initiative6-9 years of relevant work experienceManaging and supervising a dynamic teamSkilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to accurately convey Advancing Justice - Atlanta’s organizational narrative and complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
