CSUDH is seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values.The PositionThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.ResponsibilitiesTeaching university coursework specific to best pedagogical practices for students with disabilities, assessment and instructional strategies with an emphasis in reading and/or math; supervising student teachers and interns in field experiences across various special education settings for students with mild to moderate disabilities; evaluating progress of students in credential programs leading to the preliminary Educational Specialists Credential in Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe or Early Childhood Special Education; and serving weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.QualificationsRequired QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in cognate field or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.Applicants must have P-12 teaching experience working with students with disabilities.Applicants must have appropriate teaching credential, administrative credential or significant experience in related field.Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.Preferred QualificationsA Master’s degree in (Special Education) or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.A Ph.D. in (Special Education) or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).Employment RequirementBackground CheckSatisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
