Construction Inspector/Field Engineer

Monitor progress of construction work on various types of transit industry projectsAdequately review and interpret drawings and specificationsAssist with investigations including reporting construction and safety issues observed in the fieldKeep accurate load counts of materials delivered to construction sitesInspect, verify, and document project is constructed in conformance with contract documentsKeep complete daily project notes, files, and test reportsPerform regular safety inspections of project to correct unsafe or potentially unsafe conditionsIdentify changes to the contract and facilitate communication to the design team in preparation of change ordersProfessionally interact and communicate with team members, customers, contractors, vendors, and the general publicHave excellent customer service and conflict resolution skillsEffectively multitask and prioritize construction issues through completionConduct site visits and general data collection efforts to support the designPerform other duties as assignedRequirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management2+ years of field experience with commercial and/or large-scale construction projectsExperience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power Point) and other typical computer programs and tools related to constructionAbility to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directedAbility to work independently or in a team setting to complete all assigned project design tasksWorks effectively with a diverse workforceGood decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality and attention to detailA valid driver’s license is requiredPreferred Additional Experience; Not Required: 1+ year of CAD drafting and/or design experience using Civil 3D and/or MicroStationPreferred Additional Experience; Not Required: Experience working with MBTA and MassDOTPreferred Additional Experience; Not Required: Experience in transit industry heavy construction
