Sr. Manager of Production Engineering
at Ascend’s Pensacola, Florida facility. As a key member of the Manufacturing and Site Leadership Teams, the Production Engineering Manager will provide leadership and technical direction that will support the business strategy and long-range plan. In addition, the Production Engineering Manager is expected to lead his team to deliver entitlement performance within Ascend's Intermediates process units in the areas of safety, environmental protection, quality, capacity, yields, and energy. TARGETED OUTCOMES Develop and implement the technical components of a multi-year strategic plan that includes identification and delivery of opportunities that will deliver significant improvement in business profitability including but not limited to capacity, cost, process reliability, material usage, energy efficiency and quality. Grow and develop capable teams and leaders who can drive execution of plans and deliver targeted results. Encourage and promote a culture that is proactive and personifies innovative ways of solving problems driven by business profitability and bottom-line results. REPORTS TO Director of Production Engineering TEAM AND INTERACTIONS Manages a team of Production Engineers for the Intermediates’ process units and works closely with professionals in Technology, Project Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and ESSH organizations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Integrate & align the Technology organization with operating performance and business results. Primary Technical Experts of the site - integration of financial, operating and technical plans. Deep understanding of the complex processes. Challenge decisions to ensure that processes are managed within the appropriate technical envelope. Manage and lead the site technical teams and continuously develop their skills and experiences along with the systems and processes to drive efficiency and improved performance. Lead the development and implementation of process optimization and improvements in process safety and process reliability. Provide leadership on prioritizing and executing technology programs that deliver solutions to achieve entitlement performance and effectively leverage process and equipment design. Works closely with Manufacturing, Process, and Project Engineering community to deliver the performance and business goal set forth in the annual and long-range operating plans. Works with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability professionals to improve the reliability of the process unit(s) and to maximize OEE. Actively supports the site & area safety programs via team participation (or leadership) in PHAs, LOPAs, MOC, PSM, incident investigations, resolution of action items, and other activities to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance. Provides technical counsel and re-direction to team members as needed to deliver planned performance. DESIRED SKILLS Results oriented leader with the ability to collaborate and build teams. Understand business financials and prioritize technical programs to drive profitability. Coach and develop future leaders. Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to integrate and influence across multiple organizations to deliver results. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams to deliver results for complex technical issues. Strong interpersonal & organizational skills. Sound engineering fundamentals and troubleshooting skills. Proven ability to meet aggressive deadlines. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE BS in Chemical Engineering, Advanced degrees are a plus. Minimum of 15 years combined experience in the role(s) of Manufacturing, Process, Technology Development, and/or Production Engineering. Strong environmental, safety and health background with knowledge of PSM. Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.
