Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2025.Training in both linguistics and computer science.Demonstrated potential or excellence in teaching at the college level.Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly and creative activities.Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including Black/African American, Latine/x, Native American/Indigenous, low-income, first-generation, and minoritized students.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with or interest in NLP research on understudied or marginalized languages or dialects.Experience with experimental methods.Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body.Experience mentoring or supporting students with minoritized identities or using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.Duties:Teach courses in computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and other linguistics subfields [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof].Develop new courses in computational linguistics.Contribute to the creation of curricula for a new bachelor of science degree in Applied Data Science with a track in Computational Linguistics, and to the development of a Digital Humanities program in the College of Liberal Arts.Engage and participate in appropriate departmental, college, university service, and community.Develop and sustain a research program and produce appropriate-level scholarly work and creative activities focused on computational linguistics and/or other linguistics subfields.How to Apply - Required Documentation:An Equity and Diversity Statement about your teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (maximum two pages, single-spaced).Letter of application addressing the required and preferred qualifications.CV.Names and contact information for three references (to be contacted for confidential letters of recommendation should you reach the
