Fleet Sustainment , a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. For 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet. Our systems and maintenance experts help the Navy maintain a high state of readiness.We are seeking Shipyard Trades people to help us provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations & installation as part of the Integrated Training Systems Installation and Sustainment (ITSIS) support contract for the U.S. Navy.What You Will Do

Under direction, performs routine technical trades duties to include support of technical repairs and installations.Work from blueprints and tech manuals.Work assigned is typical of standard work assignments common to specialty trades.Applies job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks that vary based on job, contract, customer requirements, specifications, etc.Performs semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of systems and equipment.What You Must Have

Must have an Active Secret Clearance.Experience working in a team environment.Must be a U.S. citizen.High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience.Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.Bonus Points For...

Experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting Fiber Optic cables and/or Multi-Pin Copper connectors on US Navy or other marine vessels.Prefer candidates who have NAVSEA STD 009-123 Fiber Optic and/or NAVSEA STD 009-073 Multi-pin Copper certifications.Experience working on Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT/ATD) systems.Prefer candidates with at least 2 years of hands-on trades experience in a shipyard environment.Knowledge and/or experience in a trades specialty in the following areas mechanical, electrical, electronics.Candidates who are currently enrolled or a graduate from and/or completed vocational school or skilled trade certificate programs are preferred.Prior fire-watch training and/or experience desired.Candidates with experience reading and using precision measuring tools (i.e. micrometers, slide calipers, indicators, voltage meters, and gauges) are preferred.Candidates with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and/or technical manuals preferred.OSHA 10 maritime Certification is a plus.Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
