Summary:

Develops and maintains the equipment drive and motor strategies assisting the plant teams with capital investments focused on reducing production downtime. Assists plant teams on root cause analysis efforts focused on equipment electrical concerns. Helps identify opportunities for automation including robotics, data collection, energy savings, improve efficiencies, safety & etc. that support our Corporate Strategies. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Machine Tool Operation, Plant Services, Plant Maintenance, and Production personnel to scope, develop, and install new and rebuilt production electrical systems. Manages all drive and motor rebuilds working with vendors and documenting performance and concerns through company systems. Primary Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

o Leads root cause analysis efforts on equipment electrical, drive, and motor issues to determine true root cause and works with the plant teams to develop prevent recurrence actions

o Supports the roll out of best practices and prevent recurrence actions across manufactuing plants

o Inventory management of equipment drives and motors

o Works with project originators, as needed, to ensure the work is properly scoped and defined to ensure acceptance when a project is completed

o Maintains equipment software, programs, drawings, and support files keeping them current and accurate

o Develops electrical panel designs and conducts panel design reviews with the company team

o Designs electrical enclosures, sub-panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to align with UL/CUL/CSA certifications and NFPA79 wiring standards

o Works with the various Operations teams to schedule, coordinate, and install equipment and equipment upgrades

o Review application and provide drive parameters for the various assigned projects

o Provide startup training on motor controls and motor applications that is easily understood at the production operator and plant maintenance levels

o Creates the necessary bill of materials for equipment designs

o Roll out and monitoring of vibration and temperature sensing equipment systems on key company equipment and their components

o Provides local and remote support to the plant teams

o Works closely with the Production and Engineering Teams to ensure all work meets the needs of the key stakeholders

o Development of SOPs and Standard Work supporting project work

Job Skills:

This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:

o Safe work experience in a manufacturing environment

o Safety training LOTO, Arc Flash, applicable PPE & etc.

o Familiar with the following drive manufacturers; Allen Bradley, Yaskawa, Reliance, Toshiba, Meltronics, Siemens & Eurotherm

o Familiar with shunt & compound DC motors, AC servo and AC induction motors

o Strong organizational, analytical, & systematic problem-solving skills to troubleshoot electrical systems

o Able to remote troubleshoot to the component and board level for basic repairs

o Utilizes drive manufacturer software for troubleshooting and trending

o Self-motivated with a proven track record of bringing projects in on-time and within established budget

o Aptitude for working collaboratively with multiple disciplines within Teams and projects.

o Reading and creating electrical diagrams, panel layouts, & etc. using ACAD or ACAD Electrical

o Development of capital improvement projects

o Test equipment oscilloscope, megger, voltmeter, current meter, IR camera, handheld tachometer, current signal generator & dranetz

o Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization

Educational Requirements:

o BS Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience:

o 2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably tied to the plastics industry

o Experience troubleshooting electrical components, AC/DC motors/drives and their applications.

o 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and designing drive and motor systems. Physical Requirements:

o The ability to walk and crawl around equipment as required

o Kneeling or sitting in front of electrical panels to terminate control wiring

o Able to lift 50 lbs. or less as required

o Standing for long periods of time on concrete flooring in a production environment

o Travel in US and Canada, anticipated travel requirements 30-35%
