Our team of talented people are dedicated to our shared mission: to provide solutions that help people design and build safer, stronger structures.Learn about our company culture directly from our team.YOUThe CNC Tool Room Machinist programs and operates CNC / Track, Manual Mills and other shop machines to produce precision parts used to build, repair and maintain dies, as well as make prototypes.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)Program, machine and measure die components in a CNC Mill to specifications provided by Toolmakers and Designers. (50%)Operate conventional mill, lathe, and surface grinder. (50%)DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIf you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.5-7 years' Experience programming and operating CNC mill / Track, Manual Mills required.5 years, Experience with precision assembly methods and techniquesCNC Machining: Ability to set up machines, write g-codes and read all measuring instruments.CAD/CAM: Ability to work with AutoCAD, Invertor, and SolidWorksAbility to read Blueprints and identify BOM (Bill of material) listed on workers orders and differentiate metals such as but not limited to Vandis 8, Vandis 4, aluminum, brass, and copper etc.Ability to communicate effectively about project status and challengesAbility to work independently to manufacturing and characterize parts on time.Ability to interact effectively with other technicians, employees, and vendors.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.TRAVELThis position requires no domestic and international travel.WORK STATUS & LOCATIONThis full-time, non-exempt position is located in Stockton CA.RELOCATIONRelocation is not available for this position.PAY$33.00 - $37.00/ hourREWARDS AT SIMPSON STRONG-TIEWe recognize and reward employees with a carefully designed and comprehensive rewards package, including competitive compensation, quarterly bonuses or commission and first-rate benefits.
