The Senior Electrical Power Engineer position is an onsite position working for Oil and Gas client in the Houston, TX area.
Senior Electrical Power Engineer Responsibilities:Lead and manage complex electrical power engineering projects with minimal oversight
Develop, review, and approve critical electrical power engineering deliverables, including: One Line Diagrams, Electrical Load Lists, Equipment Specifications and Data Sheets (Transformers, Switchgears, etc.)
Design of MCC, Switchgear, and Power Distribution Systems
Cable Sizing and Routing Earthing and Lightning Protection System
Designs Electrical Layout Plans (Substation Layout, Cable Tray Layout, etc.)
Hazardous Area Classifications and Selection of Ex-Rated Equipment
Power Systems Studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, Harmonic Analysis)
Relay Coordination Studies and Settings
Participate in critical studies and reviews like HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessments
Oversee the preparation, evaluation, and management of electrical requisition documentation, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews
Direct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for complex electrical systems.
Conduct and supervise comprehensive field surveys to document and assess existing conditions
Provide expert collaboration with project teams, clients, and suppliers to resolve complex technical electrical power challenges
Senior Electrical Power Engineer Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
Extensive experience in electrical power engineering, with a strong focus on LV and MV systems
Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting wiring, fiber optics, and power design on-site Proficiency in SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical engineering simulation software
PE Registration, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months, preferred
Candidates should be located within daily commuting distance of Houston, TX.
