ManagementJob Description Summary:The Deputy Director, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for supporting the leadership and management of the Human Resources Office. In partnership with the Chief HR Officer (CHRO), the Deputy Director serves as an advisor to employees and management on human resource matters to foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture. The Deputy Director plans, manages, and oversees assigned activities, operations, and projects in the Human Resources Office, and may assume the duties of the CHRO when necessary.Essential Functions:Assists with the administration, planning, managing, and overseeing human resources activities and projects.Strategizes and implements human resource objectives based on WSSC Water’s strategic priorities.Oversees and evaluates multiple human resources functions and teams.Supervises employees, including selection, training, and evaluation.Assists in developing evaluation techniques for human resources activities.Communicates HR programs, practices, and policies effectively.Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws.Researches best practices for HR challenges and identifies opportunities for improvement.Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:Comprehensive knowledge of best practices in Human Resources.Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects.Ability to establish effective working relationships at all organizational levels.Knowledge of employment laws and human resource administration processes.Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment.Minimum Education, Experience Requirements:10+ years of professional experience in human resources.5+ years of management experience, including employee supervision.Working knowledge of various HR functions such as workforce planning and employee relations.Preferences:SPHR, SHRM - SCP, or similar certification.Master’s degree in human resources or a related discipline.Public sector experience.EEO Statement:AN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
