Job SummaryThe Director of Human Resources (DHR) provides leadership and support in all areas of human resource management and services. The DHR is responsible for supporting all aspects of Human Resources including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, student relations, onboarding, compensation, benefits, training and development and data management. The DHR will augment payroll functions as needed. The DHR will serve on the Title IX team and support Title IX functions as needed. The DHR interprets laws and regulations related to HR and advises college faculty and staff regarding laws and regulations. The DHR creates and/or updates all applicable board policies and administrative procedures under the guidance of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The DHR reports to the CHRO. This is a non-supervisory position. Incumbent must be willing to follow an individual development plan and participate in professional development. Additionally, incumbent must be willing to serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Five years of management experience.

PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP required. If not certified, incumbent must agree to attain certification within 18 months from date of hire.

Job DutiesThese are the job duties required for the position.

10%:

Responsible for supporting College compliance with the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Employment Laws, Fair Labor Standards Act; Family Medical Leave Act; and other employment related federal and state regulations. Requires active participation in Human Resource membership associations such as CUPA-HR or SHRM to stay current in the field.

5%:

Works closely with the CHRO to develop and implement policies and procedures, plans, and implements procedures for departments and related functions.

10%:

Responsible for the staff development plan, training and development, individual development plans, and recommendations for staff education for college staff.

5%:

Provides advice to faculty and staff related to the interpretation, implementation, and legal aspects of Human Resources policies and procedures and interprets federal and state employment regulations. Provides consultation and assistance on conduct-related issues.

20%:

Works with the CHRO to organize, coordinate, direct, and oversee all functions related to human resources.

10%:

Supports College staffing activities (recruitment, interviewing, selection, internal transfers, and the development of the annual Staffing Plan).

5%:

Works with the Vice President for Academic Affairs to ensure faculty compliance and alignment of faculty engagement with HLC standards.

15%:

Administers and manages the electronic performance management system for all faculty and staff.

5%:

Maintains a highly collaborative partnership with other offices for many activities.

5%:

Performs other assignments as directed.

10%:

Supports the Title IX Coordinator (CHRO) which involves understanding the Title IX law and its related requirements, monitoring the implementations and outcomes of Title IX policies and procedures, and providing information, support, and resources to the college community in support of the CHRO.
