Job Title: Trademark AttorneyLocation: Seattle, WAExperience: 5-8 yearsJob Overview:A law firm seeks a highly qualified Trademark Attorney to join its Seattle office. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in trademark prosecution, clearance, agreements, and enforcement and be skilled in providing strategic advice and counseling to clients. The position offers the opportunity to work with domestic and international clients, handling complex trademark issues and disputes.Key Responsibilities:Manage all aspects of trademark prosecution, including preparing and filing trademark applications.Respond to office actions issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Conduct comprehensive trademark clearance searches and analysis.Handle U.S. and foreign trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.Provide strategic counsel on trademark portfolio management and enforcement strategies.Draft, negotiate, and review trademark licensing and settlement agreements.Oversee and coordinate foreign trademark filings and prosecution efforts with international associates.Advise clients on trademark selection, use, and protection strategies.Enforce trademark rights through cease-and-desist letters, settlement agreements, and litigation support.Monitor trademark portfolios and provide counsel on global branding and trademark protection.Requirements:Minimum of 5-8 years of legal experience in trademark law, including prosecution, agreements, clearance, counseling, and enforcement.Proven experience with trademark prosecution and responses to office actions.Hands-on experience with trademark clearance searches, including analyzing and advising on potential risks.Expertise in handling U.S. and foreign trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.Strong understanding of international trademark filings and working with foreign associates.Solid experience in drafting and negotiating license and settlement agreements.Educational Requirements:J.D. from an accredited law school.Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar (or the ability to waive in).Certifications:Washington State Bar membership required.Skills & Qualifications:At least 4 years of experience working in a law firm, explicitly handling trademark matters.Superior written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong academic credentials, demonstrating a professional and academic success track record.Preferred Experience:Experience working with international clients and managing cross-border trademark portfolios.Knowledge of copyright and other intellectual property issues, though not required.
