Title: Real Estate Attorney

The Real Estate Attorney will work closely with East Point's General Counsel and Project Development Team to support the ongoing development activities of the company, as well as develop and manage the real estate portfolio of assets. The position reports directly to the General Counsel and may have direct reports over time.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal oversight of land management activities and real estate holdings, working closely with General Counsel and Real Estate Paralegal
  • Develop and administer land management program and related legal processes
  • Project interface with multiple parties including parent company, outside counsel, & financial partners
  • Interact and negotiate with landowners and their counsel
  • Conduct and manage all aspects of internal real estate due diligence activities
  • Review, revise and negotiate purchase and lease options, site leases, easements, licenses, and other real estate-related contracts
  • Closing document preparation, oversight and review
  • Manage real estate acquisition closings
  • Provide legal support for real estate due diligence and closings in connection with M&A transactions
  • Coordinate with and manage external counsel on real estate-related matters
  • Assist with building out and managing a skilled real estate team within the Legal Department
  • Represent the company's capabilities and image including participation in conferences, trade shows, and other business development opportunities
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned


Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong understanding of real estate due diligence (including without limitation title and survey review) and commercial real estate closing processes
  • Development experience preferred (commercial real estate or renewable energy)
  • Ability to draft and negotiate option contracts, land leases, easements, deeds, and other real estate-related documents

Education & Experience:
  • J.D.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practice in the area of commercial real estate or similar area
  • Active and valid Bar license in state of residence


Travel & Time Commitment:
  • Limited travel related to, company retreats, and possibly industry conferences
  • This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times.
