Senior Architect

Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs (CNSP) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect to lead and oversee Air Force facilities planning in support of their Architecture program to include facility architectural design and construction knowledge management, interior design knowledge management, and landscape architecture knowledge management. This role involves performing reviews, development, update, and coordination of the (Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)/ Facilities Criteria (FC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), Department of Air Force Instruction (DAFI)/Air Force Instruction (AFI), Installation Facilities Standards (IFS), Air Force Pamphlet (AFP), Air Force Handbook (AFH), DAFIs, DAFMANs, playbooks, program guidance/directives, policies, promotion/ implementation, and Task Order design/construction guidance based on Criteria Change Requests (CCRs) submitted through the Criteria Management System (CMS). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in architecture, with over 10 years of experience in AF facility design and a deep understanding of DoD requirements.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Architect: Pay commensurate with experience.

Senior Architect Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform reviews, development, update, and coordination of the UFC)/(FC), UFGS, DAFI/AFI, IFS, AFP, AFH, DAFMANs, playbooks, program guidance/directives, policies, promotion/ implementation, and Task Order design/construction guidance
  • Lead the design and development of facilities in compliance with DoD standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Update Architecture SME and Interior Design community websites, to include content development.
  • Assist with researching, consolidating, tracking, and responding to comments received from other organizations, to include coordination and collaboration with other DAF SMEs.
  • Provide support for facility project programming documents including scope verification, refinement, cost estimate reviews, editing/drafting revised documents.
  • Development of Scope of Work (SOW) and funding documents for the DoD Tri-Service Criteria Program.
  • Ensure adherence to building codes, design standards, accessibility guidelines, and DoD criteria governing design and construction.
  • Provide expertise in the application of industry design and construction practices.
  • Develop technical specifications, design and construction documents, and operating instructions.
  • Provide advice, expertise, and assistance to Government personnel in the areas of facility criteria and guide specifications, various technical submittal reviews, recommended resolutions for construction and/or engineering quality issues, assistance with new technology evaluations, assist with infrastructure surveys and inspections, and help develop transfer efforts into guidance and other special studies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that designs meet all necessary criteria and standards.
  • Travel will be required to the various Air Force bases (CONUS & OCONUS)
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Senior Architect Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Accredited Associate's degree or higher in Architecture; Architecture license preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience performing facility design with additional experience overseeing the development of SOW, funding documents, and technical specifications in support of the DoD Tri-Service Criteria Program.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise for criteria development and review including Engineering Technical Letters; Unified Facilities Criteria; Facilities Criteria; Unified Facilities Guide Specifications; and Department of the Air Force Instructions, Policies, Directives, Pamphlets, Manuals and Handbooks.
  • Familiarity with National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and Architectural Licensure requirements.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, design standards, accessibility standards, and DoD criteria.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and guide project teams effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex design projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
