Salary: $140,000 - $185,000 per year

The Billing Manager oversees and coordinates the efforts of the billing team, ensuring the timely and accurate issuance of invoices in line with client deadlines and internal accounting schedules. This role involves managing workload by assigning client and partner billing tasks, ensuring adequate vacation and leave coverage, and prioritizing special projects. Additionally, the Billing Manager leads staff recruiting, training, and development initiatives, providing visible leadership in prioritizing, planning, and directing the department. Effective interaction with partners and senior management is essential, requiring strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

Manage daily operations of the billing staff, including workload balancing and lawyer assignments.

Ensure accurate preparation of client invoices and resolve billing issues with partners.

Oversee the resolution of rejected invoices, unallocated balances, and bill packet preparations.

Understand complex billing arrangements, Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), and e-billing challenges.

Provide training to billing staff on various billing functions and client arrangements.

Mentor and develop billing staff, including conducting annual performance reviews.

Collaborate with other departments within the revenue cycle to minimize delays in the billing/collection cycle.

Identify and implement process improvements for streamlining the billing process.

Develop, test, and implement new billing procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Monitor adherence to Accounting policies and procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

At least 7 years of relevant experience with significant operational and supervisory responsibilities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with senior management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.

Experience in a law firm or professional services firm.

Familiarity with eBilling Hub, electronic billing vendor sites, and Elite 3E.
