Hyde Park Location . This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.Essential Job FunctionsIdentifies, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains building utility systems related to low voltage electric wiring controls for heating and ventilating systems, pneumatic temperature controls, pumps, air filters, and central refrigeration unitsMay replace switches and motors to 110 voltsMaintains relative pressures and air quantities in HVAC systemsRepairs and maintains existing plumbing systemsRepairs and maintains appliances including refrigeration and package A/C equipmentWorks from building blueprints to determine location and layout of circuits, ducts and piping. Performs on the scene repairs or replaces components. Performs repair work in central shopUses hand tools and power equipment such as drill press, saw, threader, and grinding wheelsRequisitions materials and supplies as neededKeeps work area neat, clean and safeCompletes required departmental paperwork in a timely and legible fashionCommunicates with patients, visitors, and other Hospital employees with tact and courtesyFollows through on all assigned duties until completionMaintains personal appearance in accordance with departmental policy on dress and uniformPerforms other duties assignedRequired QualificationsHigh School GraduateSuccessful completion of recognized apprentice program as Building Engineer or equivalent progressive experience in building repair and maintenanceAbility to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing.Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job.Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds.Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner.Must have knowledge of safety rules, practices and equipment.Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with other people.Must be capable of strenuous physical activity.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Full-time (1.0) ; 8-hour shiftsShift: EveningsCBA Code: 73 SEIUNo Visa Sponsorship AvailableMust comply with UCMCs COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
