Scope of PositionThe Cytogenetics Laboratory provides Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH) and Chromosome analysis on inpatient and outpatient specimens received from the OSUMC and other local and state hospitals and physicians. The Cytogenetics Technologist position responsibilities include performing complete chromosomal analysis and/or FISH analysis using high resolution microscopes and a digital imaging system. These procedures are used to examine blood, bone marrow and solid tumor specimens for chromosomal changes. Hours may vary according to workflow and holidays.

Position SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the Lab Manager, Lead Technologists, and Division Director the Cytogenetics Technologist is responsible for complete chromosomal analysis and/or FISH analysis in addition to clerical and processing procedures leading up to final analysis.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree with MT (ASCP) certification or Bachelor's degree in a certified cytogenetics degree program or a Bachelor's degree in a biological science. Post-degree experience in a cytogenetics lab setting and experience in cancer cytogenetic analysis desired.
