What you will do:
The role is crucial for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and timely procurement of materials, goods, and services necessary for mining and metal production operations. The role also involves managing the end-to-end supply chain to optimize performance, reduce costs, and ensure sustainability and compliance with industry standards.
Main Responsibilities: Lead the procurement and logistics activity in USA in close liaison with Headquarters in Europe.
Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that supports the company's growth and objectives. Collaborate with other departments to align procurement goals with overall business goals, including inventory management.
Supplier Management: Review and strategically align current vendors based on capability, competitiveness, quality and long-term strategic orientation with group. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, helping drive standardization in terms and conditions of negotiations to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery. Monitor supplier performance and support implementation of improvement plans as needed.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and manage the US purchasing & logistics team. Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance team performance and expertise. Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working and employee wellbeing.
Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, from sourcing to payment, to ensure operational efficiency and cost savings. Ensure full compliance of Purchasing & Logistics operations. Implement best practices and leverage technology to drive automation and standardization.
Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices related to procurement & logistics. Apply this knowledge to develop innovative procurement strategies and stay ahead of market changes.
Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, geopolitical issues, and regulatory changes. Develop contingency plans to maintain continuity of supply.
Procurement Systems Lead: Organize spend mapping, spend categorisation, risk management processes, cost initiative tracker, supplier relationship management. Develop a data-driven culture and ensure the availability of up-to-date, integrated and consistent procurement data. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement processes and identify areas for improvement.
Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement & logistics teams and across the organization. Lead initiatives to drive innovation, cost savings, and sustainability in procurement practices. Facilitate discussions with internal stakeholders to create supplier total cost comparisons. Identify true cost and value drivers and deliver year on year measurable cost savings and avoidance in line with local and global expectations.
Ethical Sourcing: Ensure compliance with ethical sourcing practices, sustainability goals, and responsible procurement standards. Uphold the company's commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
What we seek:
Master’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Business Administration.
Minimum of 10-15 years experience in Procurement management with proven track records of team leadership, negotiation skills and optimization/costs reduction of procurement operations.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, procurement technology and market trends.
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Working experience in a commodity sector is a plus.
Proficient in MS Office software. Knowledge of Procurement software, data analytics and SAP is a plus.
Spanish or/and French language skills are a plus.
Available to travel part of the time.
