Formed in 2016, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is a public Community Choice Energy service provider serving approximately 270,000 residential and commercial customer accounts in thirteen Santa Clara County communities. SVCE offers opportunities that position their people, as well as SVCE, for success.Position: Power Settlements Planner/ManagerPower Settlements Planner salary range: $151,952.06 - $238,780.90Power Settlements Manager salary range: $173,984.16 - $256,631.30SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONUnder the supervision of the Deputy Director of Power Resources, the Power Settlements Planner/Manager (“Planner/Manager”) is responsible, either directly or through subordinate staff, for power data analysis and management, CAISO market analysis, and administering complex settlement and billing processes that contribute to the timely and accurate records of SVCE’s wholesale power portfolio. This position works closely with other members of the Power Resources department to ensure a consistent feedback loop of actual results to inform changes to portfolio planning and market strategy.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

The Planner reports to the Deputy Director of Power Resources and the position does not include supervisory and/or team leader responsibilities but may supervise outside consultants / contractors as needed.The Manager reports to the Deputy Director of Power Resources and includes supervisory and/or team leader responsibilities and may supervise outside consultants / contracts as needed.Essential FunctionsIncluding, but not limited to:Power SettlementsReview and validate complex bilateral settlement and billing arrangements with SVCE’s counterparties for commodity products including Energy, Resource Adequacy, and Renewable Energy Credits.Review CAISO settlement statements and invoices for accuracy.Perform regular analysis of CAISO market outcomes and assess SVCE’s portfolio performance against intended strategy.Track power supply portfolio performance relative to annual budget.Provide timely feedback to SVCE’s Front Office staff regarding resource performance and market results.Contract AdministrationAssist in the ongoing administration of SVCE’s contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements, EEIs, and WSPP agreements.Track settlement results against contractual obligations.Business Process OptimizationContribute to the ongoing management of SVCE’s power supply portfolio data, specifically ensuring that models and reports utilize settlement quality data.Develop methods and process documentation supporting the robust and continued function of power settlements operations.Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements that support enterprise risk management controls and segregation of duties between relevant functions.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:Experience with wholesale electric utility markets, specifically the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).Experience working with ETRM (Energy Trading Risk Management) software, specifically Adapt2.Excellent programming and statistical analysis skills, including Python and R, respectively.Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, queries (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.Experience building, optimizing and working with ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Power BI.Experience with project management or task tracking software, including Monday.com.Skills:Self-directed and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.Excellent communication skills, including distilling complex information verbally and in writing in a simple and understandable manner.Be a problem solver in approach to new challenges.Abilities:Take on new projects for which there may be limited examples or support.To work independently and in a team.To build detailed and summary reports for various audiences and stakeholders including executive management, SVCE’s board of directors, and the general public.Abilities to be considered for a Manager role:Work with minimal direction, oversee multiple projects, and carry out tasks at a high level of quality while maintaining ultimate accountability for timely completion.Take on new and unique assignments, develop requirements and success criteria, and implement durable solutions.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in economics, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related, quantitative field.Experience:

To be considered for a Planner, five (5) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience working in power settlements and/or data analysis at an electric utility, cleantech company, software company, or similar organization. To be considered for a Manager role, must possess seven (7) to ten (10) plus years of progressively increasing responsibility supervising or managing staff in an electric utility or power producer setting.Physical and Working ConditionsThe physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
