MELE Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced and talented individual to serve as one of its Vice Presidents (VP) who will assist the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with planning, coordinating, and overseeing performance of the company’s federal government contracts. Working collaboratively with the COO and other senior executive management, the VP will help to ensure development and implementation of the highest quality and efficient operations and systems in business development efforts and the performance of its federal contracts. Qualified candidates must have a history of exceptional experience in the federal government contracts industry, understanding of performance of federal government contracts, business acumen and management skills required in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of the principles, procedures, laws, regulations, policies and best practices in the government contracts industry.Duties/Responsibilities:Assist the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with planning, coordinating, and overseeing performance of the company’s federal government contracts and business development activities.Help to ensure development and implementation of the highest quality and efficient operations and systems in business development efforts and the performance of federal contracts.Analyze company operations to improve and increase productivity and business development needs.Provide support and encouragement for managers with issues related to work processes, supplies, or staff including employee hirings and terminations.Communicate and advise COO on the strategic direction of the company's government contracts division.Advise COO and collaborate with executive leadership and other internal stakeholders to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects and systems.Collaborate with other divisions and departments to carry out the company's goals and objectives.Recommend and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.Ensure that departmental decisions and plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.Ensure business practices meet company goals.Oversee compliance with relevant regulations and policies.Facilitate leadership development within the company.Recruit, interview, hire, and train management-level staff when necessary.Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.Be responsible for discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy when necessary.Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the COO and other leadership.Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities, Education, and Experience:History of exceptional experience in the federal government contracts industry, established track record in business development, and understanding of performance of federal government contracts.Must possess business acumen and strong supervisory, management, and leadership skills.Demonstrated team and relationship builder and collaborator.Must work at MELE’s headquarters office in Rockville, MD (at the present time, in a required hybrid work environment with three days in the office and two days working from home).Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, laws, regulations, policies and best practices in the government contracts industry.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred.At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.LOCATION:
