Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Executive Director of Corporate Partnerships is responsible for the planning and execution of Weatherhead School of Management's corporate engagement strategy. This individual will work directly with the Associate Dean of Corporate Partnerships and Executive Education and will serve in an executive role as a subject matter expert for the university's corporate engagement strategy. The executive director must be comfortable dealing with high-level corporate leaders, internal school leadership, and other key stakeholders. They must have the ability to develop high "value-added" and lifelong touchpoints for Weatherhead's corporate partners. Positioning Weatherhead as a convener for high business ideals and best practices by building relationships with corporations aligned with Case Western Reserve University will be an important activity for this position. The executive director will create and execute a plan for all corporate activities and customize relationships with leading corporate partners that benefit all of Weatherhead. The executive director will work alongside the associate dean and other WSOM executive directors to implement collaborations and partnerships with corporations incorporating all aspects of WSOM programs, centers, services, students, and faculty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Provide strategic advice to the co-deans, associate dean, and the school's leadership group for developing and implementing practices related to achieving the school's strategic goals, priorities, and overall plan. Participate in long-term and short-term strategic planning for corporate development and partnerships across the school. Identify new corporate partnerships and opportunities. Serve as primary point of contact to manage outreach and engagement efforts. Develop and execute strategies to solicit, cultivate, and increase new business relationships between industry and Weatherhead. Pursue new business relationships with an eye toward a full complement of engagement with students and faculty. Work with internal WSOM team (Recruitment, Career Placement, Degree Program Leaders, Center Directors, Executive Education, and faculty) to ensure a smooth transition from opportunity identification to handoff for implementation. Work with department leaders to address challenges and ensure timely achievement of short-term and long-term critical priorities. Manage portfolio of corporate clients. (65%)2. Build Weatherhead's corporate engagement framework. The framework will include processes to coordinate, communicate, and consolidate corporate partnerships (regional, national, and international) with Recruitment, Career Placement, Degree Program Leaders, Center Directors, Executive Education, and faculty. Determine process for facilitating connections. Work with cross-functional teams within the school to develop new engagement methods or make changes based on school and industry needs. Coach or advise teams in best practices to support their efforts and maintain corporate relationships. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders; support plans and initiatives to meet school and industry needs; identify and communicate goals and objectives; building accountability for progress and measuring the results to be achieved; identify and address enhancement opportunities and adapt to promoting continuous improvement. Develop an analytical framework or model for assessing corporate development and outcomes of strategic initiatives. (20%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Represent WSOM in university and interdisciplinary initiatives that are externally focused on corporate and community partnerships. (3%)2. Identify critical path touchpoints with corporate and non-profit organizations that enhance the image of our school, our degree offerings, and our student successes in the work environment. Seek efficient and effective methods to interact and engage in external partnerships. Develop intentional interactions with partners to maximize the impact. (5%)3. Work with the Director of Marketing to develop a strategic and integrated marketing and communications plan for corporate and community outreach to perpetuate Weatherhead brand and visual identity. Research and benchmark market data as it applies to corporate engagement. (5%)4. Perform other duties as assigned. (2%)

CONTACTSDepartment/School: Daily contact with the faculty, staff, students, and executive education participants. Regular contact with the co-Deans and Associate Deans to report on strategic initiatives, program status, and financials.University: Frequent contact with CWRU deans, vice presidents, faculty, and staff.External: Daily contact with C-suite executives, community partners, and alumni to establish new partnerships, develop new programs, and leverage new opportunities. New relationships will be regional, national, and international in nature.Students: Frequent contact with students and executive education participants.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises up to three student workers. No direct staff supervision. Oversees corporate engagement activities performed by staff across the entire Weatherhead School of Management.

QUALIFICATIONSExperience: A minimum of 15 years of executive management experience including experience in, and understanding of, the corporate and leadership communities served by Executive Education. Demonstrated performance/potential for entrepreneurial, creative, and innovative leadership. Experience with, and knowledge of, profit and loss management and financial and budgetary processes. Experience with and knowledge of the role of technology and strategic planning in organizations. Full-time corporate work experience strongly preferred.Education/Licensing: Master's degree in business, education, or organizational development required. Valid driver's license required.

Ability to think big and "outside of the box" to develop new ideas and create faculty support.10. Demonstrated ability to sell and to manage a complex sales process in a corporate environment.11. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to use sound judgment.12. Strong familiarity with standard desktop software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).13. Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.14. Ability to meet consistent attendance.15. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.

WORKING CONDITIONSIdentify the working conditions and physical demands which relate to the essential functions of the position, such as working indoors/outdoors, working with exposures to hazards, etc. Include special considerations for the position, such as occasional travel or necessary overtime.

Hybrid Eligibility

This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
