About the Role
As the Vice President of Finance at Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of our high-growth nonprofit organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine your expertise in nonprofit accounting and financial management with strategic leadership to drive our mission forward.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, you will be at the forefront of our organization's financial strategy and growth. This role is ideal for a finance executive who thrives on creative problem-solving, change management, and making a tangible impact in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Oversight
Partner with the CEO to develop and execute capital strategies, financial planning, and investment priorities
Lead budget planning and financial forecasting, providing insights into key drivers and assumptions
Oversee resource allocation and cost control measures to optimize organizational efficiency
Financial Leadership
Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee
Contribute to the organization's strategic goals, with a focus on financial sustainability and growth
Develop and implement financial performance metrics to guide decision-making
Nonprofit Accounting and Compliance
Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and maintain our tax-exempt status
Oversee audit coordination and manage relationships with external auditors and tax vendors
Implement robust internal controls and accounting procedures to safeguard organizational assets
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Produce comprehensive financial reports and analyses to inform strategic decisions
Develop and maintain financial dashboards and scorecards to track organizational performance
Provide regular updates on business performance, including financial results and key metrics
Risk Management and Donor Relations
Implement effective risk management strategies to protect the organization's financial health
Collaborate with development teams to support donor relations and financial reporting to funders
Ensure compliance with all relevant nonprofit financial regulations and reporting requirements
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
10+ years of experience in senior financial management roles, preferably in nonprofit settings
Proven track record in nonprofit accounting, financial forecasting, and strategic financial oversight
Strong understanding of nonprofit compliance and regulations, including experience maintaining tax-exempt status
Excellence in budget planning, resource allocation, and cost control measures
Demonstrated ability to lead audit processes and maintain strong relationships with external partners
Preferred
MBA or relevant advanced degree
CPA certification
Experience with financial management in high-growth organizations
Track record of successful board relations and financial presentations
