Overview:
The Vice President of Sales & Marketing (VPSM) will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work closely with Senior Vice Presidents of Operations, General Managers, and Directors/Managers of Sales, Marketing, and Revenue. The VPSM will also coordinate with CoralTree's home office and property teams. This role provides sales and marketing leadership for a portfolio of 10 to 20 hotels and resorts, focusing on achieving top-line revenue goals. Responsibilities include coaching and advising property teams, implementing processes and initiatives, strategizing with sales, marketing, and revenue leaders, and directing resources to increase market share and meet adjusted gross operating profit budgets. The VPSM will collaborate with Senior Operations leaders to address revenue shortfalls.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate property competitive markets and sets, ensuring relevance based on current and future market conditions.
Define clear brand positioning by assessing customer segments, competition, and market relationships.
Lead the analysis of sales and marketing operations, providing resources to address identified needs.
Drive community culture and set expectations for field Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams.
Act as a key liaison in owner relations, ensuring transparent communication and building trust.
Offer actionable recommendations to enhance sales, revenue, and marketing efforts.
Identify future performance issues by analyzing market segment booking pace, channel reports, and conversion rates.
Review business plans, strategies, and tactics, making recommendations to adjust based on market conditions and hotel performance.
Optimize sales staffing models and deployment and assist in setting annual sales goals.
Collaborate with revenue leaders to assess reservations processes and make improvements, and evaluate rate and market positioning, recommending adjustments as needed.
Drive the development of sales and marketing efforts, including advertising, public relations, promotions, and direct sales.
Ensure implementation of home office marketing initiatives, requiring metrics to assess success.
Maintain and evaluate data capture procedures to ensure accurate marketing information.
Oversee due diligence and transition activities for new property acquisitions and exits.
Maintain strong communication with SVPs of Operations, addressing property-specific issues.
Regularly analyze group booking pace, backlog, and other metrics to identify revenue opportunities.
Conduct quarterly sales and marketing audits, adjusting plans to align with market conditions.
Participate in annual business planning, approving sales and marketing strategies, pricing, and budgets.
Represent CoralTree at owner meetings, budget presentations, and regular calls.
Work with the home office team to complete and maintain the Gold Standards Checklist, ensuring best practices.
Evaluate digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, social media, and adjust to maximize revenue.
Foster a motivating environment for sales and marketing staff, enhancing performance and engagement.
Assist with onboarding new team members, ensuring they are familiar with resources and support.
Review staff structure and performance, identifying training opportunities and enhancing skills, and participate in the recruitment and selection of key property-level leadership roles.
Affinity Team Engagement:
Foster a vibrant marketing community to share best practices, brainstorm innovative solutions, and align strategic efforts across the portfolio.
Act as a guest speaker on Affinity Team calls, providing support, training, and development to enhance team capabilities.
Design and implement leadership development programs for Affinity Team leaders, empowering them to excel in peer leadership roles.
Utilize the DOS Affinity Team to undertake projects that contribute to building a world-class marketing community.
Lead the CRC/Residences Marketing Affinity Team, coordinating monthly calls and training sessions to ensure alignment and growth.
Organize and deliver educational seminars and learning opportunities at annual conferences, promoting continuous professional development.
Develop and execute a mentorship program for marketing professionals, nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of Sales and/or Marketing Leadership work experience with progressive career growth and pattern of performance in the hospitality industry.
Experience as a member of a hotel’s executive team highly preferred.
Experience engaging with owners and investors, displaying a high emotional intelligence and confidence as a public speaker.
Proven ability to lead and manage both teams and large-scale initiatives while presenting an image of enthusiasm and professionalism.
This is a high-travel role, requiring extensive travel (50%+) to our properties.
Salary range:
$220,000 - 240,000 + bonus
