Summary

The Senior Marketing Manager develops, manages, and executes the marketing strategy and initiatives for the MBG Brands primarily Cobia and Pathfinder and secondarily Maverick and Hewes. Role emphasis is on content creation, digital marketing and website management, lead generation and nurturing, cultivating and leveraging brand ambassadors, and collaboration with independent dealers. The candidate must be a passionate brand-builder who is rooted in the consumer/customer, takes initiative, can thrive in optimizing results on a lean budget, and is able to multi-task in an environment where no two days are the same and where most work is done in-house with sleeves rolled up. For this role, you should understand the full marketing mix and be familiar with ways to analyze market research and customer behavior. You need both creative and analytical skills with the desire to use data in decision-making. While the environment is relatively informal, you must operate with professionalism, high standards, and hunger to win in the marketplace.

The work involves teamwork as well as autonomous leadership of marketing plans. The person works out of our Fort Pierce, FL office, reporting to the VP of Marketing (who is not local) whereby you will utilize tools and search-and-reapply ideas from other company brands. You will have regular access to the on-site MBG President. The candidate will be expected to effectively manage one direct report and partner internally with Sales, New Product Development/Engineering, IT, Customer Service, Finance, and shared corporate resources. Externally, the role works with our dealer network, outside vendors, media representatives, and fishing guides/ambassadors. Some U.S. travel outside of FL is required (10-15%).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and execute effective annual marketing plans for the MBG brands to build brand equity/aspiration and market share. Lead execution across digital, on-the-ground, and grass-roots plan elements.

Establish and manage the annual marketing budget. Partner with Finance to meet financial performance objectives. Track results and determine ROI of marketing spending. Expand marketing intelligence (e.g., market share and competitive positioning) and use data to support decision-making. Utilize brand scorecards.

Oversee sourcing, design, placement, purchasing and implementation of all content and media placement (print, video, paid and organic search, social media, etc.). Manage the design, development, and production of all promotional materials on time and on budget.

Advance lead generation initiatives and lead nurturing tools to support dealer sales; utilize CRM automation among existing customers and new prospects through software like HubSpot and AimBase.

Manage the planning and execution of photo and video shoots for new campaigns supporting product introductions, existing product updates, sales events, and other content creation.

Develop and execute multi-touchpoint product launch plans including new product positioning, timing, and dealer assets to generate interest, excitement, leads, and ultimately sales.

Maintain an understanding of products, product changes, and improvements.

Carry forward the cross-company tools and processes that unite the broader Marketing Department across sites.

Step in on other duties to help the broader business be prepared to flow to assorted business needs!

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; targeting 6-7 years of related experience and/or training.

Language Skills:

Strong written and oral communications. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to senior management, colleagues, customers, vendors, and dealers.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic business math skills and Excel usage - ability to compute and understand pricing, discounts, opportunity cost, comparative indexes, ratios, percentages and to create and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Six or more years of marketing experience, preferably in the marine industry or a related field. Personal passion/interest in the boating lifestyle and fishing (the MBG brands serve this audience) is a big plus.

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial, solution-oriented person with positive energy, resolve, and an exemplary work ethic. Must be able to work independently without constant oversight and be seen as credible among colleagues including the on-site MBG President.

Ability to deliver great creative and content without expensive agency outsourcing.

Demonstrated aptitude in working with dealers/distributors/trade channel customers.

Experience with leveraging and managing vendors, contractors, or other spokespeople/influencers.

An analytical and inquisitive approach fueled by data; understanding of marketing analytics from various marketing platforms (i.e., Google Analytics).

Excellent organizational/planning skills for project management; commitment and drive to work through barriers to meet deadlines with high-quality outputs.

Proven to be innovative in the whats and the hows; oriented to continuous improvement.

Experience in developing direct report(s), and in building foundational and sustaining capabilities.
